Venetian Blinds
Venetian blinds are versatile and stylish. They allow you to control the direction of light into a room, whilst still offering privacy.
They can be raised or lowered, and tilted through 180 degrees. They are typically controlled by a pull cord to raise or lower them, and an acrylic tilt wand to rotate them.
Wooden blinds have tilt ‘cords’ for rotating the slats, since the weight of the blind is much heavier. A heavier blind needs a more substantial mechanism to move them.
Venetian blinds are suitable for the following windows:
- Bay Windows
- Bedroom
- Lounge
- Study
- Conservatory – Usually fitted to the PVC frame of the conservatory, and projected forward on special brackets to clear the window handles.
- Kitchen
- Bathroom – For wetrooms or for excessively steamy rooms where there is no extractor fan, we recommend the use of Faux Wood venetian blinds.
- Dining Room
- Utility Rooms
- Loft / Dormer Windows
- French Doors (often attached to the doors)
- Outward Opening Doors
For sliding patio doors, we do not recommend Venetian blinds. This is because when pulled up the ‘stacking’ restricts the height of the door opening.
