Blackout Cassette Blinds
Product Overview
Blackout Cassette blinds are essentially roller blinds, with a blackout fabric. The cassette is the housing in which the fabric rolls into.
When combined with side channels and a bottom channel, it’s possible to achieve an almost 100% blackout effect in the room.
Blackout Cassette blinds don’t need to be ugly. We can make them for you with almost any opaque fabric(no light comes through). That said, most installation tend to be in simple plain colours.
Come and take a look at our showroom, and see how blackout cassettes work. We are able to make these blinds with manual or electric operation. The electric operation can be mains powered or battery powered.
Blackout Cassette Zip Screen
Our Zip Screen range offers you the flexibility, ease of operation and durability unsurpassed by any other screen system available on the UK market.
The specially designed zip is welded to the cloth ensuring a strong, flat join. The zip runs securely in a plastic inner channel to ensure it cannot pull out.
This type of Blackout Cassette blind is particularly suitable for rooms which have a lot of air movement. That’s because the fabric cannot pull free from the side channels which would normally cause a defect.
Air movement can be caused by ‘leaky’ windows (for example, old sash windows).
The ‘zip’ blackout blind does tend to be significantly more expensive than the next option.
Blockout Cassette Roller Blind
The blockout cassette roller blind is a cheaper option and more suitable for most domestic installations. It doesn’t have a zip system, but instead, the fabric floats inside the side channels and achieves the blackout effect because of the brushes that are in the side channel.
We have a few colour options when it comes to the cassette housing also. All colours can be viewed at our showroom.
Child Safety Features
Blackout roller blinds can be made child safe in a number of ways:
- Use a side chain mechanism and attach the bottom of the looped chain to the wall (or to the cassette side channel itself) using a ‘Child Safety Device’
- Order your roller blind with a spring mechanism instead of a side chain mechanism. This is not the recommended option however
- Order your roller blind with an electric motor installed, eliminating the need for any looped chains for pull cords (recommended)
