Basswood is our premier wood for shutters. It has a beautiful soft grain, and comes
in a massive choice of 32 stained colours and 20 painted colours. If that's not
enough choice, then any colour can be produced to order.
Basswood shutters can be made with 3 panels hinged from each frame without any warranty
issues, and comes in an additional 3 widths of louvre, which are not available in
either Lockwood or Craftwood.

HIDDEN TILT ROD:
Hidden tilt rod is rebated into the side stile and is available on 64mm elliptical,
89mm and 114mm louvres only.
OFFSET TILT ROD:
This is where the standard offset is 25mm from the centre of tilt rod to end of
louvre on hinge side. This method is used when mutipled hinged panels are ordered
(4 or more) to stop the tilt rods colliding when folded against each other.

BUTT STILE - the butt stile is rarely used in the UK, as it allows light
to pass through the gap between each shutter. It is used mainly on single hinged
panels where it does not meet another panel.
REBATE STILE - This is the most used stile, since it allows two panels
to interlock when they meet, and expel more light from the room.
'D' MOULD STILE - The 'D' Mould is used where it is prefered that the small
gap between the central/closing panels is covered completly.

The standard mid-rail depth is 76.2mm. If a panel is deeper than 1100mm for 32mm
louvres, or 1800mm for 47mm, 64mm, 89mm or 114mm louvres, then a mid-rail is required
to add rigidity.
(If the panel height is over 1100mm/1800mm, but the a mid-rail is not required,
then it is assumed that the warranty has been waived).
If required, Basswood mid-rails can be ordered a different size to the standard
at no extra cost.
Due to manufacturing limitations, the position of the mid-rail can be slightly different
to the exact required positions by the following amounts:
32mm louvre - can be + / - 13mm
47mm louvre - can be + / - 19mm
64mm Louvre - can be + / - 25mm
89mm Louvre - can be + / - 38mm
114mm louvre - can be + / - 50mm
