A 50mm wide aliwood slat is now available. Please see the page on standard 50mm blinds for technical info.  The colours are the same for the 50mm blind.

The specification for the Aliwood blind is the same as a standard 25mm venetian blind, however, the slatting, the headrail and the bottom rail are coated in a special wood effect finish, which is extremely convincing.

This style of blind is becoming very popular as an alternative to wooden blinds, since the cost is lower, and the blind is less bulky when pulled up.

For further technical information, and an explaination of the general benefits of venetian blinds, please see the 25mm venetian blind page.

Benefits

·               Lower cost than real wooden blinds.

·               Easy to clean, and won't be damaged by using mild detergents unlike wooden blinds.

·          Light can be directed around a room to reduce glare in certain areas. For example, reducing the glare on TV and computer screens.

·              Aliwood Venetian blinds have a very small stacking depth even over long drops, which makes them ideal on doors.

·          Lightweight and suitable for fixing to weaker materials such as plasterboard.

·               Aliwood Venetian blinds can now be fitted into the perfect fit™ frame system for the ultimate unobtrusive look. Particularly suitable for conservatories.

Product Options

·          Hold down clips

o         Plastic hooks which secure the bottom bar in place when attached to doors or tilt windows.

·          Mixed slat combinations

o         A mixture of colours can be added into one blind.

·          Privacy Slating (25mm only)

o         The blind is essentially the same as the standard; however, the routed holes are eliminated in favour of a small cut-out at the back of the slating. This means that the pull cords do not run through the slats, but instead run at the back. The removal of these punched holes makes a massive difference to the amount of light that penetrates the blind, and gives a new look to an already attractive blind.

·               Electronic Tilt Operation

o         The headrail can be manufactured with a battery operated motor to allow the slats to be tilted by remote control.

Limitations

·          Maximum and Minimum Sizes

o         The minimum width for a venetian blind is 210mm. The maximum width is 2600mm. After the maximum width of 2600mm, it is recommended that the Continent system be used.  The continent system simply has a bigger, heavier duty Headrail, and is capable of reaching a maximum width of 4000mm.

Note: it is advisable to consider using the same headrail system in situations where there are more than one blind next to each other – such as a bay window.  For example, there are two blinds in a bay window at 800mm wide, and one window at 2200mm wide.  The 2800mm wide blind needs the continent headrail system, and so it would be advisable to use the same continent headrail for the smaller blinds as well, so that the look is consistent.

·          The continent headrail is available in matching colours, and will colour co-ordinate to the chosen slat colour, however, the tilt control will be be cord operation, not tilt wand.

·          The widths of 25mm allywood venetian blinds are made to a tolerance of 3mm, and the drops are made to a tolerance of 5mm. Therefore, blinds that are positioned next to each other may show a slight difference in height even though they have been ordered at the same drop.

·          Important notes for bay windows are shown on our downloadable technical sheet.
